Today is a big day for LACityLights — we got our .Com address today! Woohoo! In honor of such an awesome event, I will post one of several posts today. I wanted to start of the day with some Cudi, of course. I feel like I really don’t have too much Kid Cudi on here — which obviously should be some sort of crime to the music-listening community, seeing as how Cudi is easily one of the most prominent icons in hip-hop music today. His track, “Alive”, featuring Ratatat, is a nice slower jam that keeps too to his original Cudi sound.

The Kid Cudi sound is easily recognized, and is a sound that cannot be imitated — plain and simple. This track is simply bad ass. It’s got that kind of laid-back  kind of attitude that many of us can relate to with Cudi’s music. Good production coupled with Cudi’s ability to flow creates an almost entrancing track — and Ratatat’s verse stays true to the original Cudi sound.

I’ll admit, it’s no club banger — it’s not supposed to be. This is the kind of track you can play in your car with your windows down, heater on, cruising down the freeway on a cold fall night. Try it out — it’s worth it.
